How to Increase YouTube Reach Using YouTube Analytics – YouTube Algorithm

We all want our videos to be popular with subscribers and our new viewers.

But sometimes a video you think they will love,  just falls flat. 😕

Which is why learning how to use YouTube Studio Analytics to understand your channels most popular videos is such a great skill to have.

The YouTube Algorithm is a great research tool for seeing how well your videos are doing and how to improve.

In this video, we are taking a look at the second menu in the YouTube Analytics called Reach. This section breaks down the number of impressions YouTube shows across the platform,  your impressions click-through rate and how they lead to views.

The reach page also breaks down where your views are coming from, including external links, channel pages, browse, and suggested videos and also search terms.

These statistics can give suggestions and ideas on how to get more views and where they come from. Looking deeply into your channel’s analytics helps you grow your channel and get more views by noticing what works for your channel.

It’s like taking your car in for a  checkup so it will run better. The analytics are the same.  Looking at your videos reach can help you fine tune your video strategy, which helps your channel to grow.

In this video, you will learn:

  1. Where to find the Reach in YouTube Analytics
  2. How to understand the Impressions & Click-through-rate. CTR
  3. How to analyze where your views are coming from
  4. How to analyze the search terms that are finding your videos
  5. How to create videos in the theme of what your viewers like best

Because the more you learn about what your subscribers really like, the more you can make videos for they will love! 💜

How Your Niche Interacts with the YouTube Algorithm

Have you been wondering what kinds of videos you should make?

Are you trying different things to see what works?

Are you still figuring out what you want your channel to be about?

This video explains how growing your channel is done by finding your best niche.

Your YouTube niche and the YouTube algorithm work together to build your channel, especially if you are new or a small channel.

When you define your niche and your subscribers click through and watch your content, the algorithm sends more like content to your subscribers.

These interactions help YouTube to show your content to others people that match the video watchers.

On the other hand, if your niche is not clearly defined and you are making videos with unrelated content, the algorithm gets confused because it doesn’t know what your channel is about and then it can’t really show your videos across the platform.

That’s why I recommend that you are really clear about who you are making videos for and what kind of people would love to consume your video content.

The more clear you are, the better content you will make for your viewers and subscribers. And that great content will be noted by the algorithm so it will show your videos to more people.  It’s a win/win!

Until next time,

Uploading YouTube Videos on Holidays? Yay or Nay?

Do you have warm fuzzies from the memory of watching holiday themed TV specialsMe, too!  📺

Which is why I have thought to upload a holiday special video especially for the Holidays  But here’s a better strategy

It’s best to upload before the holiday. And here’s why…

When you are growing your channel, you may be temped to upload videos as much as you can.

But there are times it doesn’t pay to upload. Those times are the big major holidays!

I’ve been on YouTube for over ten years. In the past, I thought it would be great to plan some holiday themed content to upload on Thanksgiving and/or Christmas.

What I realized is that it didn’t really work so well. The videos simply did not get as many views as videos as before and after the holidays.

During holidays, like Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, etc. people just aren’t watching. They are traveling, relaxing, visiting with family and friends, eating… You get the picture. They are not watching YouTube!

Now the worst thing about uploading on a holiday, is that your video’s reach will be hindered. The YouTube Algorithm tests how your video is doing for the first 48 hours to determining how popular it is and how many of your subscribers are clicking on it in the feed.

So if you’re not getting regular views during that 48 hour period, it will be harder to generatemore traffic.

So if you’re tempted to upload a holiday themed video, make sure you upload BEFORE the holiday.

Likewise, in summer views often sag a bit because people are on vacation. That’s why we love fall because fall and winter are prime video watching time, … as long as you don’t upload on a proper holiday.

In this video you will learn:

  • Why uploading on major holidays isn’t a good idea
  • How the YouTube algorithm is affected
  • How watch time is affected by low engagement
  • How videos are tracked during the first 48 hours
  • Why you need to schedule videos when your subscribers will most likely see them
  • Why it’s best to schedule holiday content before the holiday
