Just Starting on YouTube? You are NOT Too Old or Too Late

You may think it’s too late to get going on YouTube but actually, it’s never been a better time.

More and more people are watching video content than ever before.

The key is figuring out your channel’s purpose and then just get started making videos.

You don’t have to be perfect but you do need to create content that other’s are looking for.

 If you have a solution to a problem or if you offer entertainment or even fun distractions and you’re clear about what offering, you can grow a channel.

My first viral video came in 2011.  It was a total surprise!

I only created a channel so I could put videos on my website. But what happened was I started getting online students from all over the world starting in 2011.  And I’ve been at it ever since.

 Because remember this, you have all the things you need to create your content. You just have to start…. today!

What Makes a Video Go Viral? – Making Viral Videos on Your YouTube Channel

Today we are talking viral videos!

We all want them!

So let’s break it down!

What makes a video go viral? Can a YouTube creator make a video go viral?

The answer is maybe. 

The best way to create a viral video is to make great content, title it correctly, create an eye catching thumbnail and then share it all over social media. 

 But even then, there are no guarantees.

That said, I have had many of my videos go viral and usually, I did nothing special to make it happen.

 Videos go viral on YouTube when lots of people share the video. 

 It starts taking off and you really don’t know why.

Sometimes a video gets a boost when something is trending and if your video is related, it can get a boost, too. 

Other times, an older video gets discovered and then you realize that stats are off the charts! 

That’s always fun!  

You just can’t predict what will go viral.  It’s a like a singer writing a song that they hope will become a hit. 

You can try, but only the people and their preferences, clicks and watch time can make a video go viral.

But keep going anyway! You’ll get there!

Beware of the Copyright Trolls!

It’s been going on for a long time on YouTube.
Copyright trolls who do NOT own the music copyright make copyright claims on YouTube so they can put paid ads on your content.

Keep reading  and watching so you know what to do!

YouTube tries to filter valid copyright claims but copyright scammers often try and claim copyright on music compositions that are in the public domain.

The way they do it, is they claim fake companies like Public Domain Records or copyright claim a song because someone recorded a cover song on a recording and so they use that to claim copyright on your cover song!

This happened to me on my classical recordings from The Queen of the Night Aria recording and also my O Holy Night tutorial.

As of today, all works from 1928 and before are in public domain. https://web.law.duke.edu/cspd/publicdomainday/2023/

So when copyright trolls try and take your ad revenue by claiming copyright, you know what to do.

Get Your Videos Found on Search – Google Title Keyword Research for YouTube

I have to say, even though this video is two years old, this is still one of THE most important skills to learn for getting your videos found on search.

If you are not getting much search traffic, take notes while watching this video!

Getting your videos found on YouTube is all about using titles with keywords that people are searching for.

 YouTube is a search engine so taking the time to do keyword research is time well spent.

Getting the titles just right will also help your video score higher with the Google and YouTube algorithm.

 Using great keyword rich titles is what SEO really means: creating titles, descriptions and tags so people can find your content.

In this video, I share how to research your potential titles using Google to see how popular the search terms are.

It’s very easy to do this research once you know what to look for and how to do it!

New to YouTube? Do these 2 Things First!

If you haven’t even started your your channel or you’re still trying to figure it out, this it for YOU!

If you are new to YouTube, you are probably wondering what to do first!

There are so many things to think about, gear to buy, plans to make…

but one of the first things you need to do is to really dive deep into who you are making videos for!

The research is in and video content is king.

You can grow on YouTube even in a crowded arena once you figure out your content strategy and really dig down on what kind of people are searching for your content. 

Think about:

1. What are the problems and solutions they are searching for? (Finding good entertainment is a problem to be solved, too.)

2. How can you solve their problems from your videos?

3. What ages, stages in life, income level, geographical area, etc. are they?

The more you dive into discovering the type of people who would love to binge watch your channel, the more you can gear your content to them!

And do not worry if your content has already been done by others. You have your own teaching styleand ideas and maybe you can explain things better for your ideal subscriber.

This is what we call your niche.

And the second thing to do is just start making videos!

 Once you understand your ideal subscriber and niche, the YouTube algorithm will know how and where to show your videos. This is why getting clear on your ideal subscriber or niche is so key for YouTube success.

So just go for it and let your passion lead you.
