How & Why to Schedule YouTube Video Uploads

I hear you, creating regular content for YouTube can be tough.

But there are some tricks buried into the YouTube Studio, that can make the process easier.

Learning how to schedule videos to upload on a schedule you create is key to finding a balance and growing your channel.

Why should you always schedule your videos

When you schedule your videos, you can target your uploads to go live when your audience is most likely to see it.

The first 48 hours are crucial for your video to get as much exposure as possible. YouTube tracks how your video is doing so you want everything to come together so your video can take off!

Another benefit of scheduling your videos from private to public is that you can take time offfrom making weekly videos by using batch filming and then scheduling the videos to go livewhen you’re on vacation or have other things you need to attend.

Pretty sweet, huh?

The way to schedule your videos from private to public can be a bit tricky. There are several steps involved but I will show you exactly how to do it using a screen share so you can follow along with me.

Why you should schedule your video uploads:

1. Videos go live when your audience is most likely to see it.
2. You can batch film and set up a month’s worth of videos and schedule them out.

Are You Doing YouTube Wrong? – Common Mistakes and Misunderstanding

One of the biggest misconceptions new YouTubers have is that they just need to make great videos and then they will be set.

Or people obsess about getting the perfect gear, cameras, microphones that it takes them years to start filming.

There are very important protocols that must be understood and practiced in order to get your channel off the ground…

and it has nothing to do with filming…

I see so many coaches and businesses on YouTube and most of them are not doing very well.

They just don’t get how YouTube works.

They think it’s all about making good content and then it will magically get discovered.

It doesn’t work that way!

I’ve checked out channels of people who have done challenges with me on my Facebook group and they still don’t get it.

So many mistakes and misunderstanding which is common for new YouTubers but also people who have been around for a while but they still don’t get it.

Since they unknowingly have so many mistakes and so many things wrong, they start thinking that YouTube is not for them.

But in truth, they are just doing things wrong. Because if you know what to do and you’re consistent, YouTube WILL work for you!

The main mistakes are:

1. Not uploading regularly
2. Not understanding how channels grow
3. Not getting how search works
4. Not understanding how to make search worthy titles
5, Not getting thumbnail strategies or no thumbnail at all

And that is why I am a YouTube coach so I can help people stop doing it wrong so they can learn to do it right!

YouTube Monetization – Adsense & Watch Time Hours

Wouldn’t it be great to get paid for making videos? That’s the dream, right?

Unfortunately, YouTube has a high standard to meet before they will allow you to monetize your videos with ads.

I’ve been monetized for years on my Vocal Splendor Studios channel and I now make between $400 to $1000 each month in ad revenue.  And soon my second channel, Cosmic Splendor, is on track to be monetized by this summer.

But while you are waiting, there are other ways to monetize your channel.

It’s every YouTuber’s dream to make money on YouTube.  But how easy is it REALLY?

When I created my first channel in 2010, anyone could apply for monetization. If your channel checked out, you could start making ad revenue right away!

Times have changed. All YouTube creators must reach a standard before YouTube will invite you into the partner program.

The standards are:

  • 2-step verification enabled
  • No active community guidelines strikes
  • 1000 subscribers
  • 4000 watch hours

And the 4000 watch hours must occur within a 12 month period.

The standards are high. This is why being consistent by uploading weekly, will get you to your goals.  YouTube is a marathon.  I like to call it a building game.

In the meantime, while you are making videos and building your channel, there are other things you can do.

1. I started my 1st channel as a voice teacher and I started to get online clients in 2011 directly from my  channel.

2. You can have affiliate sales and share your favorite products in your videos and in the descriptions.

3. You can create custom clothing with your logos and art and link the stores to your YouTube channel.

4. You can apply for adsense now, which you will need for when you join as a YouTube partner. Your adsense account will allow you to put ads on your blog or website and also allows you to create paid ads for your business.

In the meantime, keep making great videos! Slow and steady wins the race!

In this video, you will learn:

  1. Where to find the monetization menu in YouTube Studio
  2. How to use the guideline clocks to show how close or far you are from monetization.
  3. Why subscriber count and watch time are key for monetization.
  4. Other ways to monetize your channel with attracting clients, affiliate sales, merch salesand more.

New people are finding your videos every day. The more videos you make, the more people will find them.

That’s how it works!

How to Increase YouTube Reach Using YouTube Analytics – YouTube Algorithm

We all want our videos to be popular with subscribers and our new viewers.

But sometimes a video you think they will love,  just falls flat. 😕

Which is why learning how to use YouTube Studio Analytics to understand your channels most popular videos is such a great skill to have.

The YouTube Algorithm is a great research tool for seeing how well your videos are doing and how to improve.

In this video, we are taking a look at the second menu in the YouTube Analytics called Reach. This section breaks down the number of impressions YouTube shows across the platform,  your impressions click-through rate and how they lead to views.

The reach page also breaks down where your views are coming from, including external links, channel pages, browse, and suggested videos and also search terms.

These statistics can give suggestions and ideas on how to get more views and where they come from. Looking deeply into your channel’s analytics helps you grow your channel and get more views by noticing what works for your channel.

It’s like taking your car in for a  checkup so it will run better. The analytics are the same.  Looking at your videos reach can help you fine tune your video strategy, which helps your channel to grow.

In this video, you will learn:

  1. Where to find the Reach in YouTube Analytics
  2. How to understand the Impressions & Click-through-rate. CTR
  3. How to analyze where your views are coming from
  4. How to analyze the search terms that are finding your videos
  5. How to create videos in the theme of what your viewers like best

Because the more you learn about what your subscribers really like, the more you can make videos for they will love! 💜

Getting on Camera for YouTube When You Aren’t Feeling It

Not gonna lie, some days can be tough to get your face on camera.

There are so many reasons why, of course, to put filming off.

But with YouTube, consistency is key.  🔑

So how do you get over yourself?

When you are starting on YouTube and even if you are further along, there are times that you just don’t want to go on camera.

You may not be in the mood, or distracted about something else or you may have had an emotional situation happen. I’ve experienced all these things!

Now, I don’t suggest making videos if you’re really sick but if you are committed to YouTube, you really should upload at least once a week.

But it’s so easy to push if off because you don’t feel ready, which is really an excuse most of the time.

I get it. When we go through things,  it can be hard to show up.

But one of my coaches, Jen Gottlieb, from Super Connected Media, has a saying, “Your Mess is Your Message”.

You might be thinking, “What? That doesn’t make any sense!” But when you think again…when you are vulnerable and real, people respect that.

For YouTube, we are not here to be perfect but to be ourselves and share our message.

And that is the beauty of YouTube. 💜

Your people are waiting for you!

Create Your Best Videos Using YouTube Analytics

It’s so frustrating when you upload a great video but it never picks up many views and you don’t know why!

I’ve been there!

Sometimes the video just needs a spiffy thumbnail and/or updated SEO.

But often the video is just not that popular even though you think it is important…. and it is.  And your audience may not know enough to know that it’s important!

Not all of your videos will be extremely popular and that’s OK.  People will find them in time as your channel grows.

But if you want to create videos that have a greater chance to be popular for your audience, this video will help you chose topics from looking at your YouTube Analytics.

And the big reason why we want our videos to be popular is that it drives traffic, views and subscribers to our channel.

One of the best ways to find great video topics for your YouTube channel is by going to the YouTube Channel Analytics to check out your channel’s most popular videos.

The YouTube Analytics lists your most popular videos in the last 28 days. (You can change the settings by toggling on the upper right hand menu to 7 days, 90 days, year, etc.) But for our purposes, 28 days is ideal.

We will be looking at the top 5 videos and you can see the stats on how many views but also view duration. View duration is another metric that YouTube Algorithm considers how your video is doing.

The videos with more views and higher view duration will trigger the algorithm to find more videos like these. It will also reinforce your niche, which builds back to your subjects.

So when you look at your top five videos, what are the commonalities?  Can you create videos like them or a spin off a subject that is related to these popular videos?

This type of analysis will help you understand what kinds of videos they want you to make.

When you plan your videos, make it habit to check your top five videos in the YouTube Studio Channel Analytics. There’s gold in there! 💰

In this video you will learn:

  • Why creating popular videos is important.
  • How to go to YouTube Analytics in the YouTube Studio
  • How to take stock and analyze your most popular videos
  • How to brainstorm similar or related video topics for your next filming day
