How to Upload Your YouTube Banner – Channel Art Tutorial Using Canva

I see so many channels that don’t have custom banners.

This is a HUGE mistake.

A custom channel banner lets potential subscribers know who you are and what kind of content they can count on seeing on your channel.

If there is no messaging or if it is confusing, people won’t subscribe.

You need subscribers if you want to grow your channel.

In this video, I show you how to create a banner in Canva.

Canva is an online graphic design program which offers templates for various projects and social media platforms.

It offers a free version but I suggest the paid version  because you get more effects like erasing the backgrounds of photos (like the video thumbnails on this email) and other effects that work really well for YouTube.

I demonstrate how to make a YouTube banner that fits the dimensions of the various YouTube platforms. (Desktop, Laptop, iPad, Phone)

I use Loom so you can see exactly what I am doing on Canva as well as showing you how to upload your banner to your channel.

You will need the guide image to upload into Canva or another graphic design program so you can get the spacing right.

I personally use Canva every day with my channels and it’s a great resource for making all kinds of graphics.

Once you have your banner up, you will be ready to grow!

How to Get Back to Your YouTube Channel After Taking a Break

It happens to all of us sometimes. We get busy and our YouTube channel gets dropped to the wayside.

What can you do to fire up  🔥 after you take a break from your channel? Life happens and sometimes it can be difficult to get back to making videos.

First off, when getting back to making videos for your channel, the best thing to do is to plan your videos.

While you are taking a break, you can still work on your channel by building a list of topics that you plan to make when you come back. In fact, this is a great idea for everyone.

Keep a running list so you never run out of ideas.

And then, when you have several video ideas, you need to schedule a time to film.

Remember, having a YouTube channel is like a part time job. You will need to set aside time in your schedule to film.

Put it in your calendar and show up!

And while you are filming, you might as well film more than one video. And this is why planning is key. 🔑

Once you get into the rhythm of planning and filming, it will get easier!

I promise!

Best Time to Post on YouTube for Your Channel Niche and Time Zone

Do you upload your videos and then set them to public as soon they are done processing?

Here’s why it pays to wait to post your videos when your audience is most likely going to see them.

Uploading and posting at the right time can really help your YouTube video get discovered. You want to give your video the best chance to be seen as soon as your video is made public.

For what days are best, it depends on your niche. If your niche is more about business, uploading on Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays are ideal.

If you are producing more entertaining videos, or longer content, weekends may be best.

And as for upload time, the earlier is usually better.

I live on the West Coast of the USA so I have just accepted that I need to upload for Eastern Standard Time.

It can take some time to determine what works best for your channel and content.

Try different times and see how it works for your channel.

And remember, you can schedule your videos to go public at the time and day you choose in your YouTube Studio.

How to Block Trolls & Spam from Your YouTube Channel

Unfortunately, spam is everywhere, even on YouTube.

But there are ways to block spammers and trolls.

When your channel gets popular, trolls and spammers can come on to your channel to leave spam with links to porn sites or trolls that leave rude remarks.

You do not have to take it!

Beside each comment, you will see three dots, which you have to mouse over to see the menu.

Click on the three dots, and the menu opens up. You can report SPAM or other inappropriate material and also you can ban trolls from interacting with your channel.

In either case, the offensive comments will be deleted from your channel and in the case of the trolls, they are held in troll jail that you can access in your YouTube studio under settings and then community.

The three dot menus are kind of tricky and they are easily missed.

But as you learn to mouse over them, you will be able to access all you need to remove comments.

Why YouTube is King of All Social Media for Evergreen Content

Everyone is all about social media these days, Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, etc.

But YouTube is not social media, it’s better. And here’s why…

YouTube is the BEST way to get clients for your business. Only YouTube has the benefit of evergreen content.

Evergreen content are videos that people are searching for. As long as you have great SEO – search engine optimization on your titles and descriptions and great thumbnails, your videos will continue to get views, likes and shares due to Google and the YouTube algorithm.

Contrast this  with social media, where there is a constant feed where you may not see posts if there are too many people you follow or not enough people like a post.

That is why posting to Facebook, Instagram and other social media platforms require constant posting in order to get attention.

Evergreen content is always attracting that search traffic and also monetization.

I have videos that I made several years ago and they are driving constant views and money through ad revenue to me every day. No other social media platform has the ability to gain so many clients and make ad revenue.

Each video you make is helping you grow you brand and your business!

YouTube Trolls – How to Deal With People Trolling Your Videos

This video is special! I have saved all my funny YouTube troll comments, from my Vocal Splendor Studios channel and I share them in this video!

Although YouTube trolls are annoying,  this video is quite funny! 🤣

Once your channel starts taking off, you will attract trolls.

At first, you might be offended but don’t take it personally. YouTube trolls like to create conflict and leave rude and offensive comments on your videos. We all get them!

Some people don’t realize they are being rude and they can be redeemed. Or sometimes they don’t speak your language well enough. But that is usually rare. Trolls love to troll!

I have a three prong approach to trolls:

1. Ignore the comment. They just look bad among all of the positive comments.

2. If they use profanity  and/or they attack me or the comments section discussions, I ban them from interacting with the channel. They can read but they cannot post.

3. I now usually give them a clap back. If they troll my channel, I will give it back to them. Because they deserve it!

It’s like if you get invited to a party and someone complains about the the food and decorations in an insulting way to the host.  Who does that?

So in this video, I am sharing my favorite and funniest troll comments from Vocal Splendor Studios channel, which has over 81K subs and 18 million views.

It’s even funnier when the trolls come back and edit their trolling and how many misspell words and other funny things.

Have fun!
