Beware of the Copyright Trolls!

It’s been going on for a long time on YouTube.
Copyright trolls who do NOT own the music copyright make copyright claims on YouTube so they can put paid ads on your content.

Keep reading  and watching so you know what to do!

YouTube tries to filter valid copyright claims but copyright scammers often try and claim copyright on music compositions that are in the public domain.

The way they do it, is they claim fake companies like Public Domain Records or copyright claim a song because someone recorded a cover song on a recording and so they use that to claim copyright on your cover song!

This happened to me on my classical recordings from The Queen of the Night Aria recording and also my O Holy Night tutorial.

As of today, all works from 1928 and before are in public domain. https://web.law.duke.edu/cspd/publicdomainday/2023/

So when copyright trolls try and take your ad revenue by claiming copyright, you know what to do.

Dispute it!

How to Block the Spam Bots in YouTube Studio Settings 👾

Have you noticed spam showing up in your comments in different languages with embedded inks?

These are from spam bots! 👾

More and more spam bots are making comments on your videos. Most of the time, they are pointing to porn sites, often in a foreign language.

You don’t have to take it!

Most of the time, YouTube does a pretty good job filtering inappropriate comments.

But you can go a step further by going into your YouTube Studio and then go into the Settings and then into Community.

Scroll to the bottom the the Blocked Words box and you can put in the words that you want to filter.

Once those words have been added to the blocked words, they won’t show up on your video’s comment section any more!

In this video, I show you how to do this while you watch me on loom so you can see exactly how I do it!

Build a Community on Your YouTube by Growing Your Channel

When we think of growing communities, we often think of Facebook groups. It’s easy; it’s a captured audience and everything stays in the group.

But you can also grow a community around your YouTube channel! Your biggest fans will always follow your videos. And they would love to interact with you and your other subscribers.

YouTube is a great platform to get your message out and attract clients, subscribers and followers but another goal is to build a community.

Building a community of followers and fans is a bit easier on Facebook and Instagram because of the closed in nature of groups and friends.

But there are great ways to build community on YouTube as well and once you have them, they will be loyal to you.

The first step is to identify your ideal subscriber. What kind of person will devour your content? Spend some time thinking about that person and then make content for them!

Once you get to 500 subscribers, you get the community feature where you can make postsand create polls.

With creating polls, you can offer your audience choices on what content they would like you to make. And they will appreciate you asking them!

The other way to build community is by going LIVE.

I suggest scheduling your lives a week or two out so you can get people ready and exited.

It’s easy to create a live stream in advance and schedule it so people will see it and plan to attend. Create a theme or subject that will be searchable and desired for your audience and create a good thumbnail.

Your people will be happy to engage with you live by texting in the chat box and then you can answer them!

And last of all, make sure you follow up with people who comment. Doing these things will help you grow both your community and your channel.

Keep making consistent content for your ideal subscriber and just watch your community grow!

How to Block Trolls & Spam from Your YouTube Channel

Unfortunately, spam is everywhere, even on YouTube.

But there are ways to block spammers and trolls.

When your channel gets popular, trolls and spammers can come on to your channel to leave spam with links to porn sites or trolls that leave rude remarks.

You do not have to take it!

Beside each comment, you will see three dots, which you have to mouse over to see the menu.

Click on the three dots, and the menu opens up. You can report SPAM or other inappropriate material and also you can ban trolls from interacting with your channel.

In either case, the offensive comments will be deleted from your channel and in the case of the trolls, they are held in troll jail that you can access in your YouTube studio under settings and then community.

The three dot menus are kind of tricky and they are easily missed.

But as you learn to mouse over them, you will be able to access all you need to remove comments.

YouTube Trolls – How to Deal With People Trolling Your Videos

This video is special! I have saved all my funny YouTube troll comments, from my Vocal Splendor Studios channel and I share them in this video!

Although YouTube trolls are annoying,  this video is quite funny! 🤣

Once your channel starts taking off, you will attract trolls.

At first, you might be offended but don’t take it personally. YouTube trolls like to create conflict and leave rude and offensive comments on your videos. We all get them!

Some people don’t realize they are being rude and they can be redeemed. Or sometimes they don’t speak your language well enough. But that is usually rare. Trolls love to troll!

I have a three prong approach to trolls:

1. Ignore the comment. They just look bad among all of the positive comments.

2. If they use profanity  and/or they attack me or the comments section discussions, I ban them from interacting with the channel. They can read but they cannot post.

3. I now usually give them a clap back. If they troll my channel, I will give it back to them. Because they deserve it!

It’s like if you get invited to a party and someone complains about the the food and decorations in an insulting way to the host.  Who does that?

So in this video, I am sharing my favorite and funniest troll comments from Vocal Splendor Studios channel, which has over 81K subs and 18 million views.

It’s even funnier when the trolls come back and edit their trolling and how many misspell words and other funny things.

Have fun!
